Raybon Kan on the Olympics, from Sunday Star Times
THERE'S GOT to be a way for the Olympics to replace all conflict in the world. A lot of the sports have to do with war. The shot put, of course, which is what happens when poor countries buy cannonballs but can't afford the cannon. These countries are able to defend about 15-20 metres of their national border, as long as their missile defence system gets a bit of rest between throws.Plus, there's boxing and wrestling and javelin and sabre and archery and shooting. For the cowards, there's running. For the slow cowards, there's walking. And for the refugees, there's ocean swimming.
